A Little Princess is a Helbling Red Series Classics Reader for CEFR A1. Janet Borsbey and Ruth Swan adapt Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1905 story for learners who are ready for a longer graded text. The book follows Sara Crewe as she arrives from India at Miss Minchin's London boarding school, then loses her father and is sent to the attic as a hungry servant. The ending with Mr Carrisford keeps the kindness wins arc clear without overloading the language. The Reader has colour illustrations, before and after reading tasks, vocabulary work, exam-style practice, British-English audio through the Helbling Media App, and e-zone activities. It works well for emotion vocabulary and a short compare-and-contrast writing task about Sara before and after her father's death.
