Children move from receptive to early productive language: short sentences with I have…, It's a…, simple present for routines (I eat / I play), classroom vocabulary, body parts, food, animals, weather. Phonics begins systematically — s, a, t, i, p, n group first, with letter formation in the AB. The Maths Book introduces numbers 1-10, simple shapes, big/small/long/short — all the maths vocabulary children will need in primary school in English.
